May 31: Leo Freeland breaks club 3000m record in Glasgow

Leo Freeland, in his last competition before taking a break, competed over 3000m at a meeting in Glasgow. Having previously run 8:34.53 in Milton Keynes three years ago, he was confident that there was considerable scope for improvement, given his results in the USA over 1500m and 5000m.

Not only did he slice a considerable chunk off his pb, he claimed the Club 3000m Record with 8:06.78, taking more than 5 seconds off Marcin Fudalej’s 2009 time of 8:12.02.

Jack Meijer has run quicker indoors with 7:57.87 in Chicago last year.
