July 26-28: Bronze for Chukwudi Onyebuchi at the England Athletics U17/U15 Championships

Three MMK middle-distance athletes were in action on Day 1 of the England Athletics Championships, held in the Birmingham Commonwealth Games Stadium.

Macy Allen was first off in the F17 1500m Steeplechase. Sadly, she was a little down on the excellent results she has had this season.

Sophia Chapman and Katie Webb contested the F17 3000m race, where both finished close together with Sophia just out of the medals in fourth place, with a new personal best.

On Day 2, it was the turn of the 100m sprinters, with three progressing to Finals.

Abigail Ajakaye progressed through her F15 heat and semi-Final, finishing second in both. In the Final she finished a fine seventh.

Chukwudi Onyebuchi won his M15 heat and progressed straight to the Final, where a great run landed the bronze medal. Earlier, he had finished seventh in the Long Jump  with a new personal best

Ibukun Familoni was fourth in his heat and third in his semi-Final to qualify for the Final, where had to settle for eighth place.

Our two entrants for the M17 Discus struggled to record valid throws, with Louis Nash was the only one to land a single valid throw.

On Day 3, Chukwudi reached the 200m Final with a personal best, and did another one in the Final to finish sixth.
