Andy Cowdrill and Matt Clements competed in the Chicago Marathon in which the Women’s World Record was reduced by two minutes to 2:09:57.
Matt started more strongly and was a minute ahead of Andy after 15km. That time difference then remained fairly constant to 35k, when Matt started to slow. By 40km, Andy was 4 seconds ahead. Matt rallied and both finished together!
For Andy it was a new lifetime best by more than five minutes while Matt missed his best, set in Manchester in April, by more than five minutes.
