November 30: MMK slip to third overall after poor Chiltern League turnout at Luton
Round 3 of the Chiltern Cross Country League took place at Luton, where reduced numbers, particularly among the seniors, saw MMK finish fourth overall on the day and slipping to third overall after three rounds with two more matches in the New Year.
Bright spots included a win for Sophia Chapman (F17), with second places for Maddie Pearce (FS), Olive Geary (F15) and Noah Webster, and a third place for Alex Vout (M13).
Chad Lambert led the MMK charge in the Senior Men’s race finishing 13th, just ahead of Matt Dicks (15th) and Ian Wood (16th), but there was an agonising wait of more than 8 minutes after the ninth scorer had finished before the final scorer reach the finishing funnel.
There was a welcome return from Elle Roche (4th) and Abby Roskilly (25th) after long term injuries, in the Senior Women’s race but, with only three runners, and with six to score, MMK lost valuable points.
Team-wise, after three rounds, the senior men and u17/20 women lie second, while both U11 teams lead in their events.
