February 15: The U17 Men win and the Women are fourth in the 4x200m at the Keely Klassic

Marshall Milton Keynes was invited to send U17 Men’s and Women’s Teams to the Keely Klassic to contest the 4x200m in Birmingham.

After some fantastic racing the Men won ahead of Chelmsford, while the women were pipped for third place by 0.01 seconds by the same club!

The men took the lead, with Abiola Bello-Obadun, on the first leg and held onto it with Chukwudi Onyebuchi on the second. At the end of the second leg the team had to take over in lane five due to a mix-up by the officials. Birchfield went into the lead and held it on the third leg with Dylan Hughes keeping in contact. A fine last leg by Ross Priestley saw MMK storm back into the lead to win comfortably by 0.84 seconds. The picture above shows the team after the race.

In the women’s race, MMK were lying second at the end of each of the first two legs, with Tiana Kalejaiye and Mila Don Liyanage, but dropped to fourth on the third leg, with Ya’anii Lees. A storming last leg with Abigail Ajakaye saw MMK back in third place until just a couple of metres from the finish. The picture above shows the MMK team.
