April 17: Millie Freeland misses club 5000m record by a whisker!
Millie Freeland, representing the University of New Mexico, ran her second ever 5000m race in Azusa, Southern California, in the Bryan Clay Invitational Meeting. In her first 5000m race two weeks ago, she just slipped inside 17 minutes to claim the Club U20 Record. This time she ran 17 seconds quicker to miss Michelle Lee’s 21-year-old Senior Club Record by half a second!
On Friday, Millie, with tiredness in her legs, ran the 1500m in 4:40.28, two seconds quicker than the last one she ran when fresh, but still well below her best. Her brother, Leo, ran 3:56.16, also well down on what he is capable.
