June 7/8: Gold for Abiola Bello Obadun and two Bronzes for Aubrey Christon at the SEAA Championships

Marshall Milton Keynes was well represented at the U17/U15/U13 South of England Championships at Crystal Palace.

Pride of place on Day 1 went to Abiola Bello Obadun (pictured above) in the U17 Men’s 100m. After finishing second in his heat and second again to the same athlete in the semi-finals, the winning athlete was unable to take part in the Final. In a very tight finish, Abiola ran his second personal best of the day to win by 0.003 seconds.

Aubrey Christon (pictured right) set a new Club Record in the U13 Boys 100m semi-finals, but could not quite match this in the Final as he finished a fine third.

Elsewhere, Ben Phillips was fouth in the Under 15  Boys Pole Vault, with a 10cm improvement on his previous best, to go second on the Club all-time rankings. In the High Jump, Under 13 Girl, Harriet Kendall, was just out of the medals as was Under 17 Man Oladipo Akib.

On Day 2, Aubrey Christon ran the first 200m race of his life, qualifying for the Final. In the Final he ran almost a second quicker, to break Ayyomide Fatoki’s 6-year-old club record by 0.42 seconds, for another bronze medal.

Elsewhere, Emi Okodugha just missed a medal in the F13 100m and Lemuel Osei Bonsu was sixth in the Final of the M15 100m. Ethan Okeke was fifth in the M13 Long Jump. Olive Geary set a new personal best in finishing fifth in the F17 1500m Final.
