April 19: Sam Daniells breaks three hours for the Marathon
Sam Daniells has been running marathons since 2013, with a best of 3:13:35, set in Manchester three years ago. On Sunday, at the Newport Marathon in Wales, with the help of MMK’s Andy Cowdrill and MK Lakeside Runners’ Gary Culligan, he knocked an incredible 15 minutes off his best time to duck under three hours for the first time. All three had the same gun time of 2:59:22.
Phillip James, in his second ever marathon, just dipped under four hours, 28 minutes slower than his first marathon, also in Manchester in 2023.
