June 9: Haydn Arnall and Gemma Steel win the Blisworth 5 mile race
The third round of the East Midlands Grand Prix Road Race Series took place over a five mile course at Blisworth, just outside Northampton.
Rugby and Northampton’s Haydn Arnall, winner at Silverstone and second at Banbury, was back to his winning ways, finishing 65 seconds ahead of the rest of the field.

Charnwood’s Gemma Steel, the 2023 Midlands Cross Country Champion, who this year finished second in both the National Cross Country and the Inter Counties Cross Country, was a surprise late entry in this race, where she finished eighth overall in 27:53, more than three minutes ahead of the second woman. Her 5-mile time of 26:47 at Stoke in February is the top-ranked 5-mile time by a woman in 2023. She is pictured above at the end of the race by Max Kirschner.

For Marshall Milton Keynes, Steve Tuttle (pictured above by Max) had a fine run to finish fourth, while the men’s team placed second. 281 finished.
