January 24-26: Freelands run indoors in the USA
Zak, Millie and Leo Freeland competed indoors in the USA this weekend.
On Friday, Zak, representing the University of Charlotte, competed over 3000m at the Hokie Invitational at Blacksburg, Virginia. In his first race since June he was always in the leading pack. He took the lead with about 600m left and held off a late challenge from a teammate to record a win in 8:18.59, just a second shy of his personal best. He backed this up with a 1000m race on Saturday.
Millie Freeland, representing the University of New Mexico, ran the mile race in Albuquerque on Saturday, recording an inaugural club indoor record of 4:56,62. Ninety minutes later, she ran an 800m race in 2:15.73 to go second on the MMK F20 Indoor all-time rankings.
