March 9: Sophia Chapman wins Independent Schools Year 10/11 Cross Country
A day after she raced in the Inter-Counties Cross Country at Nottingham, finishing 16th in the U17 Women’s race, Sophia Chapman was in action again at the Independent Schools’ Cross Country Championships at Mallory Park.
At Nottingham she had been spiked, losing a shoe when lying third, and forced to complete the race wearing just one shoe.
At Mallory Park, she was racing against Olivia Forrest, last years’ English Schools U17 Champion, who finished eighth at Nottingham the previous day. After a close battle, Sophia came home first, sixteen seconds ahead of Olivia.
