February 2: Lateefah Agberemi wins and Laura Zialor second at SEAA Indoor Champs
Lateefah Agberemi added 10cms to her indoor pb to take the Senior Triple Jump title on Day 2 of the SEAA Senior/U20 Championships at Lee Valley. She took the lead in the second round with 12.27m before extending it to 12.35m in the third round. Only Laura Zialor has jumped further indoors with the club best set nine years ago.
Laura Zialor, in her first competition for nineteen months after rupturing her Achilles tendon at the European Team Championships, had to settle for second place on countback after clearing 1.70m. While the height is somewhat below her club indoor record of 1.91m, she will be delighted to be back in competition.
Matt Hall ran an indoor personal best in the heats of the Senior Men’s 200m, but it wasn’t enough to get him into the next round.
Abi Fitton qualified as a fastest non-automatic qualifier in the 400m heats, with the second quickest time, just a tenth off her best indoor time set last month. In the Final, just 80 minutes later, she ran almost the same time again to finish just out of the medals.
