February 14: Paul Munday wins February Kanter

There was a turnout of 15 runners for the special Valentine-Day edition of the Keyhole Kanter race – the lowest numbers of the series, but low numbers were to be expected. There was one newcomer this month – welcome Stewart Wells, and many reports of injury, aches and general malaise, which also zapped numbers.
Temperatures were 7C, with a no wind and dry underfoot. Perfect for PBs.
Although there were only four personal bests, this was the fastest Kanter, on average ever, with an average finishing time of 24:17. Only two runners ran over handicap. A fantastic effort tonight from everyone! There were some interesting battles, with Harry Stiles dropping his dad like a hot potato towards the end of the race. Debra Brent and Chris Tighe started together, but Chris has clearly had a good month of training as he gained 20 seconds over the course. Jeremy Vick and Paul Munday started within 5 seconds of each other. Paul overtook Jeremy to win that battle by 23 seconds.
The top three male course times were Tom Inchley (14:18), Andrew Wasdell (15:31) and Paul Munday (16:05). The top three female times were Karen Tincknell (18:56), Debra Brent (19:23) and Catherine Gould (22:27).
Four PBs were recorded tonight: Debra Brent (4th PB in a row!!!!), Harry Stiles (2nd in a row and taking 51 seconds off his PB!!), Tom Inchley (2nd in a row!!) and Stewart Wells.
Here is the final race table (note: green indicates a time above handicap; red indicates a time below handicap).
