February 14/15: The Freelands run indoors
The three Freelands studying in the USA were all in action, with Millie Freeland improving her own club indoor 3000m record by almost seven seconds.
Leo Freeland ran the mile at the Indoor Meeting in Boston, where Grant Fisher broke the World Indoor 5000m record with 12:44.09, taking 5 seconds off the long-standing record by Kenenisa Bekele. Representing Wingate University, he came within 0.3 seconds of his indoor best.
